Since there is no fun in doing the usual, take your time and consider the following to spice up your holiday.
All play and no work . . .
First and foremost, one needs to realise that as much as the holiday is on peak, school will be back sooner than later. Holidays assignments need to be done thoroughly so make a plan.
Option A: one can drop everything and decide to spend the first part of the holiday focusing on the assignments and at the same time studying.
Option B: allocate different times at certain points during the holiday to do a bit of school work.
Whichever way one decides to do, it should be complete by the time school starts.
It surely rocks to do other things during holiday knowing the school stuff is out of the way, clever right?
Be a sports star
School days are always hype with tones of things to do. Too many things at time that one fails to allocate time on the busy schedule for sports.
Well guess what, spare some moments to sweat it out in the fields at local clubs. Hit the local community centre and award time to perfect your sporting skills, try out the games you have always wanted and even if you suck at it, who cares?
The best part is that you network, work out and have tones of fun. Responsible fun rocks!
Hit the big screen
Many students miss out on a lot of movies that hit during school days.
The worst victims here being the boarders.
Take advantage of the long break and check out what is showing in cinemas.
This is a better option than hanging out at ungodly places. Cinemas are safer and are mostly constituted by people of your age groups.
After all, local cinema Ster Kinekor has many world class innovations that will blow your mind. 3D and all, can things get any better.
For those outside Harare or those who are not keen on going out, be sure to get yourself your favourite movies and wear your “couch potato king” crown.
There are no guarantees that you will not be disturbed though.
Do Hifa
It is huge and it comes once a year. Get into the artistic mood and explore five days of fun at the Harare International Festival of Arts.
In time Cool lifestyle will give heads up to various programs that will especially be beneficial to you.
Otherwise have crazy fun while embracing art from our local, regional and international arena.
Be a tourist
This is more interesting and is different from the usual. Not many teens are able to come together and have an all teen holiday but here is how one can rock it on a low budget.
Target local tourism resorts in your area and have the time of your lives.
Consider places like sanctuaries, botanic gardens, museums, the lake.
Ride horses and get in touch with mother nature, it is even more exciting when doing it with your friends on a low budget.
With the independence holiday around the corner, drop by the National Heroes Acre and have a long history lesson for a low fee.
Put on your dancing shoes
Host a house party and also attend your friends’ parties in the neighbourhood and have some responsible fun. By this, one is not deprived of a bit of partying.
With the golden rule of mixing only with people of your age in mind stay away from alcohol and other dangerous substances.
Internet
It is no secret that some teens spend so much time on social networks and with the holidays upon us, there are no limits to this.
While one is “whatsapping, facebooking, twitting” with friends visit sites for informative literature.
Boost your self confidence with motivational articles and feed your brain with interesting facts on basically anything
Say good bye to summer
As most of you have already noticed a bit of change in the weather.
This holiday marks the end of summer so with the little time that is left; enjoy as many outdoor activities as you possibly can. Go swimming, fishing and rock those summer clothes.
After all, they may be out of fashion by the next summer.
Happy holidays!
