WEARING a new pair of shoes is almost always a painful experience. Here are some sole-saving tips that are sure to keep your feet healthy and happy.
Sticking plasters
This is perhaps the most common and obvious solution to the problem, but it works perfectly. Applying sticking plasters to your hot spots before leaving the house will reduce friction and prevent blisters from forming on your feet. This trick is especially helpful when you wear high-heeled shoes. Just remember that the surface area of the sticking plaster should be bigger than the affected area, so that it stays in place.
Baby powder
A great way to reduce friction between your feet and shoes is by using baby powder. Just sprinkle some baby powder into your pumps before putting them on. This also works well if you are not wearing any socks with your shoes. However, in this case you will have to make sure that your feet are completely dry.
Hair dryer and thick socks
Just put on a pair of thick socks and shove your feet into your favourite shoes. Then take a hair dryer and run it over the tight parts of your shoes until they feel a bit better. Next, walk around in the shoes a bit and wear them until they completely cool. Repeat the procedure if needed. The material from which the shoes are made will expand from the heat, and it will become more flexible and soft. The trick works only with natural materials such as leather.
Deodorant
The lateral part of your foot, heel bone and toes are the areas that suffer the most when you put on your newly purchased heels or flats. In order to reduce friction between your feet and shoes, apply some roll-on or stick deodorant to the problem areas.
Silicone insoles
You can buy silicone insoles in shoe shops and orthopedic stores. There are two types: full-length insoles that protect the whole sole and half ones that are used only under your toes or heel. So you can choose the insoles that fit your needs.
Plastic bag with water
Fill two plastic bags with water and put them in the toe of each shoe. Then place them in the freezer and leave overnight. As the water freezes, it will expand in the bag and stretch the shoe. When you take your pumps out the following day you will notice that they have become wider.
Silicone heel inserts
To avoid irritation and to prevent blisters from forming on your heels, use special silicone pads that can be purchased in any shoe store or online.
Tape the third and fourth toes together
This may sound strange, but if you tape your third and fourth toes (counting from the big toe) together, you will feel much more comfortable in your pumps.
Give your feet a little break
If you wear stilettos to work every day, it is a good idea to keep a pair of comfortable flats and slippers at your desk. Be sure to let your legs relax. For example, take off your heels and put on slippers when you are sitting at your desk.
A wedge is a perfect alternative to a high heel
If wearing high heels every day feels like torture for you, or if your new pumps keep causing you a lot of pain and discomfort, then you might want to pay attention to wedges. They are much easier to walk in, and they are more stable. — Wires.
