The symposium, to be held under the theme “Repositioning the human capital function for competitiveness”, is expected to draw experts and practitioners from different sectors of the economy.
CCL Group managing partner Mr Cleven Masango said the symposium was aimed at redressing the imbalance created by the brain drain.
“For more than a decade now, the labour market has been largely characterised by labour mobility as employees seek greener pastures. There is need to address this imbalance and re-oil organisations that have not been working for a long time.
“We need a paradigm shift in addressing issues to do with human resources and this symposium will help us achieve all this,” he said.
He added that there was need for companies to rethink the purpose of human resources so that they can focus on retaining the skills they already have than on recruiting new skills.
“It is against the background that human capital function in organisations requires to be repositioned so that they regain competitiveness and innovation.
Labour and Social Services Minister Paurina Mpariwa will deliver the keynote address and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Mr Mike Bimha is expected to address delegates on the “rebirth of strategic human resource function in economic turnaround”.
Other speakers that have been lined up include Industrial Psychology Consultants managing consultant Mr Memory Nguwi, World Bank senior country economist Dr Nadia Piffaretti, managing director of Management Solutions Mr Luxon Zembe and president of the Institute of Personnel Management in Zimbabwe Ms Rose Nhamo..
