adminAppearing before Mbare magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje, Kudakwashe Maregedze (33) of 2292 Glen Norah A stated that his wife, Sophia Jiri (25), was in the habit of wearing ‘provocative’ clothing whose origins he did not know.
He claimed she dressed that way to seduce other men as retribution for being trapped in a polygamous marriage.Allegations are that on February 25 this year, Maregedze arrived home early in the evening but did not respond to Jiri when she greeted him.
He proceeded to another part of the house occupied by his first wife and returned shortly to the dining room used by Jiri. After some time he asked Jiri where she had got the clothes she was wearing and she replied that she had bought them herself since he had told her she should fend for herself.
This allegedly angered Maregedze who became violent and started assaulting Jiri and head-butting her. He pinned her head against the wall resulting in her sustaining injuries. Prosecutor Hilda Huni represented the State.
