Hubby basher arrested

A BULAWAYO man is seeking protection against his abusive wife and the couple’s son who are allegedly in the habit of ganging up to beat him up. Ernest Moyo, who is in his 60s, claimed before Bulawayo Civil Court magistrate Marlyene Muchina yesterday that his wife Setina Moyo had been denying him conjugal rights for the past three years and was in the habit of teaming up with their son Evans to assault him.
The family resides in Pumula South and the couple has been married for the past 32 years.

Setina and Evans recently endured a night in police cells after they assaulted Moyo.
The duo told the court they beat up Moyo to “tame his adulterous culture and tendency to disappear from home on month-ends”.
Muchina granted Moyo the protection order.

She also ordered both parties not to verbally assault or physically abuse each other.
The father, mother and son were also directed to undergo counselling for the next eight weeks.
Moyo told the court that his wife and son assaulted him, prompting him to make a report to the police.

According to his application, Moyo claims that his wife was in the habit of insulting him in the presence of their children.
“She has been denying me my conjugal rights for almost three years and threatens to go to my work place to tell them of our domestic issues. Evans once assaulted me and is very violent to an extent that he broke my radio,” he said.

Moyo told the court that recently his son threw an empty bottle at him but missed and instead broke a French door. “By doing all this, they are emotionally abusing me and therefore I apply for a protection order against the two,” he said.

Setina denied the allegations and told the court that Moyo was the one who had assaulted her and when Evans reprimanded him he made a false report to the police. “Your worship, we did not beat him up. He rushed to make a false report to the police and we spent a night in cells. He frequently sleeps out and after getting paid, he disappears with his salary and has a chain of women,” she said.

Setina told the court that she had been subjected to his violent nature for the past 32 years such that sometimes they invite his relatives to resolve their disputes.
