Dancehall performer and social media personality Malloti and her husband, Hulungende have been implicated in a road traffic accident in Kariba in which an expecting mother was injured.

Police say the chaos began after Malloti allegedly got pelted with stones by revellers following a show performance.

Witnesses reported that the commotion that followed prompted panic among the crowd, and a pregnant woman reportedly ran and fell on the road as Malotti prepared to drive away from the scene.

The woman was knocked down and was rushed to hospital, where she was admitted.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the case, saying officers are investigating circumstances surrounding the crash and the events before it.

“Police are carrying out a comprehensive investigation linking a local musician to a road traffic accident in Kariba,” Comm Nyathi said. “The musician was reported to have clashed with revellers at a show leading to a commotion. One of the revellers, and the expecting mother, were injured.”

He added that investigations indicate a white vehicle, believed to have been driven by the musician, was involved in the accident.

“The musician was later stopped while she was in Karoi in a blue vehicle,” Comm Nyathi said. “Investigations are continuing with a view to ascertain what actually transpired.”

Malloti, whose real name Millicent Tsitsi Chimonyo, is known for hits including “Waponda Moyo.” The performer was reportedly on stage with Hulungende at the time of the incident.
