Hundreds bid farewell to Cde Amos Chinyamutangira

A SOMBRE crowd gathered at the Manicaland Provincial Heroes Acre this afternoon to pay their respects to the late liberation war hero, Cde Amos Chinyamutangira, who died in a hit-and-run accident last Friday.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza delivered a heartfelt eulogy, describing the late hero as a true son of the soil.
He was represented by the Secretary for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mr Abiot Maronge.
“We are deeply saddened to stand here today, bidding farewell to a great son of Zimbabwe. Cde Chinyamutangira selflessly sacrificed his life in the liberation struggle and continued serving his community. We remain grateful to His Excellency, President Dr ED Mnangagwa for conferring on him the Liberation War Hero status,” he said.
Minister Mugadza also seized the opportunity to stress the importance of road safety, urging the police to thoroughly investigate and bring reckless drivers to justice.
“This tragedy serves as a painful reminder of the need for stricter road safety enforcement,” he said.
Cde Chinyamutangira, born in 1962 and joined the liberation struggle in 1977. After independence, he dedicated his life to education and community development in his native Zimunya.
