Charity Nzenza who died last week.
Ms Nzenza died at Parirenyatwa Hospital on Thursday after a short illness. She was 52.
Speaker after speaker described the late Ms Nzenza as an honest and hard working person.
Foreign Affairs Minister Simba-rashe Mumbengegwi, who attended the burial, described Ms Nzenza as a dependable person.
“When I heard the sad news of her death I was in Namibia and was at a loss for words. Her dedication to duty, professionalism and depe-ndability had earned her my confidence and that of the senior management of the ministry.
“It was no surprise that I confidently conferred upon her the position of official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a position she held with discretion and distinction,” he said.
Minister Mumbengegwi said he had lost a friend and reliable advisor.
He said it was particularly pain-ful that on the day she died she was due to leave the country for South Africa on a posting in the capacity of Minister Plenipotentiary and deputy head of mission.
“Cde Nzenza’s death has robbed the ministry of an experienced, hardworking and dedicated officer.
“I recall with pride her immense and meaningful contributions in the Commission on the status of women which saw the successful participation of Zimbabwe at the 1995 4th World Conference on Women in Beijing, China.
Her husband Mr Elisha Muzo-nzini said he lost not only a wife but also a friend.
“She was a forthright person who had a gift of being a good communicator. I always consulted her on my day to day problems. My wife was a generous person who loved farming,” he said.
Ms Nzenza joined the ministry in 1983 as an administrative officer and worked at many of Zimbabwe’s foreign missions until she was recalled in 2005.
At the time of her death she had been assigned to work at the Zimbabwean Embassy in South Africa as minister plenipotentiary.
Among the mourners were Retired General Solomon Mujuru, Zimbabwe Prison Commissioner Retired Major-General Paradzai Zimondi, Director-General of the Central Intelligence Organisation Retired Major-General Happyton Bonyongwe, Air Marshal Perrance Shiri and Rtd Colonel Katsande.
