A man has ended his week-long hunger strike after Harare mayor Bernard Manyenyeni asked him to break his protest until a probe into controversy surrounding the city’s salary schedule is complete. Mr Philosophy Nyapfumbi (42) spent five days at Town House saying he would not eat until town clerk Dr Tendai Mahachi is suspended.
Mr Nyapfumbi said he was suspending his hunger protest until next Monday.
“For now I am going home but if the forensic audit does not come out in the favour of Harare residents I will be back here to continue my hunger strike,” he said. “What I want is some comprehensive investigation over Dr Tendai Mahachi’s issue and his top management because the city has to improve its service delivery which has deteriorated over the years.”
Mayor Manyenyeni assured Mr Nyapfumbi that the city council would do its best to address the matter.
