Hurungwe man fatally assaults lover

It is the State’s case that on June 13 this year Chabayanzara who was with his girlfriend, Eneresi Benjamin in his bedroom at the homestead allegedly accused the latter of stealing his money. In order to force Benjamin to surrender the cash, Chabayanzara allegedly, started assaulting Benjamin with a hoe handle in the head several times until she lost consciousness.

To cover up his offence after discovering that his girlfriend had died, Chabayanzara allegedly dragged Benjamin’s body out of the house and dumped it behind some blair toilets at the homestead.

Word of Benjamin’s death later filtered to her relatives in the area who took the matter to Karoi Rural Police leading to Chabayanzara’s arrest.

A post mortem carried out at Karoi Hospital confirmed that Benjamin had died from the head injuries she allegedly sustained at the hands of Chabayanzara.
