A man has approached the Harare Civil Court seeking protection against his wife whom he says always insults and threatens to poison him.
Jerry Mhishi made the revelations in court against Linda Marufu, citing alleged death threats and physical abuse.

He claimed that Linda threatened to poison him with rat poison after he was advised to seek a protection order against her.
“After we appeared before the court last week the court advised me to seek for a protection order as l alleged that my wife was assaulting me.
“She has been threatening to put rat poison in my food ever since.”
He also stated that his wife habitually attacks him with bottles and a fork, targeting his private parts during misunderstandings.
“She always assaults me. Linda is in the habit of attacking me with bottles and a fork.
“She attacks me with a fork on my private parts, chest, and waist whenever we have a misunderstanding.
“The last time she attacked me was over the issue of sending money to my parents,” he said.
The man further alleged that she denies him conjugal rights and that their issues often revolve around their children.
“She denies me conjugal rights, it has been three months and most of our issues are about our children, l married her with one child of her own.”
In response, Linda claimed that she only hits Mhishi in self-defence, as he knows she recently had a surgical operation.
“He is in the habit of assaulting me yet he knows l just had an operation. Whenever he assaults me, l hit him back and recently he bit me on my shoulder and hand.
“I bit off his finger when l was three months pregnant.”
Magistrate Meenal Naratom granted Jerry a protection order for threats of violence, noting that there was no evidence provided to the court of assault.
