A KAMBUZUMA man stabbed his wife three times in the abdomen, chest and on the neck, after he found her in bed with another man, before he tried to kill himself.
Mindson Jairos (31) has been arrested and is under police guard at Parirenyatwa Hospital.
Jairos stabbed his wife, Loveness Gurure (40) with a kitchen knife on the neck, abdomen and chest after he allegedly found her with an unnamed boyfriend in their matrimonial bedroom.
Gurure bled profusely and died while the boyfriend escaped.
After committing the offence, Jairos stabbed himself in the neck once but the wound was minimal and he received help and was rushed to hospital.
The incident happened at the Joshua Nkomo Housing Cooperative.
Police national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said:
“ZRP confirms the arrest of Mindson Jairos (31) in connection with a case of murder which occurred at a house in Joshua Nkomo Housing Cooperative, Harare on 25/05/24 in which his wife, Loveness Gurure (40) died.
“The suspect stabbed the victim with a knife on the neck, abdomen and on the chest before he stabbed himself on the neck.
“The suspect had allegedly found the victim with a boyfriend in their matrimonial bedroom.”
The body of the victim is awaiting post mortem.
“The body of the victim was conveyed to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem while the suspect was admitted at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals under police guard,” said the police.
