THE Hwange FC supporters will hold elections for a new executive committee during an annual general meeting set for Lwendulu Social Club on Saturday. The atmosphere is already super-charged for this potentially explosive meeting which starts at 9AM as campaigning for posts is now in full swing within the town.

The incumbent secretary Lisutu Ndlovu confirmed that all logistics were now in place for the big day on Hwange’s football landscape.

“The stage is set for the AGM to be held at the Lwendulu Social Club. It’s my hope that those with real passion for football and not one who values what they get from football will prevail in these elections. I’ve new plans for this year but will reveal this after the elections,” said Ndlovu, who is also angling for the chairman’s post.

Their constitution allows him to contest for two posts but will hold one if he wins.

The incumbent chairman is Claudius Ncube who is facing stiff competition from Ndlovu, Ferdinard Ncube and former treasurer Maybin Dizomba, Lungile Sibanda and Simeon Ndlovu.

Claudius Ncube is however confident of retaining his post.

“I’m sure the supporters will give me a fresh mandate since I did a lot especially last year in terms of providing transport to away matches,” said Ncube who took over the reins in 2013 from Ali Milazi.

Dizomba, Sibanda and Ndlovu are also confident of landing the hot seat.

On the vice chairperson’s post, incumbent Mary Banda has to fend off the challenge from the likes of Estelle Zulu, Juma Sakala, Jeffrey Ncube, Trevor Sambo, Patrick “PK” Kaunda, Francis “Franco” Majamanda and Peter Nyathi.

The treasurer Lot Zulu will fight it out with Sikajeya Mleya and Dizomba if he misses out on the top job.

Stally Njamba chose not to stand for the organising secretary’s position leaving Collen Sibanda, Felex Ncube, Michael Rusike, Mathias Mpofu, Peter Zulu, Emmanuel Mwiya and Elijah Gwambu to battle it out.

Simon Ngoma and Jeffrey Ncube will vie for the secretary’s position while Simon Sibanda, Peter Sialumba, Reason Ncube and Peter Zulu are all interested in the vice secretary’s portfolio.

Lwendulu (No 1), Madumabisa (No 2), Makwika (No 3), Sinderella (No 1 North), Lusumbami (No 5), Mpumalanga, Raylton and  St Mary’s will each provide one committee member to the set up.

Hwange FC club administrator Khumbulani Mbano will oversee and monitor the election process.

Hwange FC boasts some of the most colourful and passionate fans in the country that religiously support their team around Zimbabwe.
