A vibrant and patriotic atmosphere has gripped Hwange as members of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA), Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) marched in unison ahead of the 46th Independence Day celebrations for Matabeleland North Province.
In a historic first, Hwange District is hosting the provincial Independence Day celebrations, marking a significant milestone for the area. The disciplined procession of security forces, characterised by synchronized steps and high spirits, drew admiration from residents.
The march signaled the official build-up to the commemorations, reflecting unity, pride, and national identity. Onlookers cheered and captured the moment as the uniformed forces moved with precision, showcasing both their readiness and their role in celebrating Zimbabwe’s independence.
The main celebrations will be held at Hwange Colliery Stadium, with Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland North, Honourable Richard Moyo, expected to preside over the event and read the presidential Independence speech
Zimbabwe celebrates Independence Day annually on April 18, commemorating the country’s liberation from colonial rule in 1980 an enduring symbol of freedom, unity, and national pride.
