Bulawayo Independence Day commemorations have begun in earnest in Bulawayo, with crowds steadily streaming into White City Stadium for the provincial celebrations.

By mid-morning, hordes of people—families, youths and community groups—were trickling into the venue, creating a festive atmosphere marked by song, dance and patriotic displays as the nation marks its annual Zimbabwe Independence Day.

Officials and security personnel are already in position, while various entertainment groups kept early arrivals engaged ahead of the main proceedings.

Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube, is expected to preside over the commemorations.

The event forms part of nationwide celebrations, with Bulawayo hosting the provincial programme in line with efforts to decentralise national events and bring them closer to the people.
