Hwange in festive mood

A WAVE of excitement has gripped the coal mining town of Hwange ahead of their expected official return to the Premiership this afternoon if they manage to subdue second placed Tsholotsho at the Colliery Stadium.

Exactly a year ago at Nyamhunga Stadium, Chipangano fell 0-2 to ZPC Kariba to bid farewell to the elite league, their second such departure in 10 years having been relegated in 2007 before coming back two years later.

“Everyone is excited about the prospects of us getting back into the PSL. Our fans have been loyal to us but we now have more people supporting us especially those who are known Highlanders, Caps United or Dynamos supporters because they are excited that their teams will now be coming down this side,” said Hwange coach Nation Dube.

“On our part we are mentally prepared for the game and we told the boys that let’s approach the game with the same mentality like any other, which is winning, we don’t need to tell ourselves that we want a point to win the championship but we are going all out for a win,” he said.

Some members of the Zifa Southern Region leadership as well as the Zimbabwe Referees Committee are expected to be part of the spectators this afternoon.

Across town at Nengasha Stadium in Empumalanga Suburb, Makomo will welcome electricity men ZPC Hwange in what will be an equally exciting duel in which they will be bragging rights at stake.
