Mr Moyo, who worked for the coal miner for over 25 years, assumed the position of managing director in 2007 and stepped down at the expiry of his contract in September. The former HCCL boss saw the company through a period of mixed fortunes, with undercapitalisation being the major obstacle.

HCCL said it was in the hunt for an individual able to provide direction and leadership for the Zimbabwe, Johannesburg and London bourses listed company.
