In a heart rendering development to the sporting fraternity Hwange Colliery Company has turned a swimming pool and tennis court meant for the community into a flea market where tenants sale various materials mainly second hand clothes.

The two facilities are situated opposite the main bus terminus at Lwendulu Village in this coal mining town which used to be national treasure by churning out sports persons in various disciplines.

“These people (flea market traders) used to operate at an open space near the hospital but two months ago, we were shocked to see them setting base in the swimming pool arena and tennis court,” said a resident who sought anonymity.
