Hwedza North Member of Parliament Advocate Itayi Ndudzo (ZANU PF) has added his voice to the growing calls by Zimbabweans to end

drug and substance abuse, especially among youths.

As part of the strategy to fight drug abuse, the youthful MP yesterday launched the Itayi Ndudzo Foundation in Hwedza, to empower youths

through income-generating projects and ensure they are contributing meaningfully to the development of the nation.

Itayi Ndudzo Foundation is a philanthropic organisation that focuses on uplifting the livelihoods of rural women and youths through life-

transforming projects.

Speaking during the launch, Advocate Ndudzo said youth empowerment is key in the fight against drug and substance abuse.

“This foundation will focus on youths and women empowerment as a tool for development in our district,” he said.

“We are also focusing on the issue of drug and substance abuse among the youth, that habit should be eradicated before it costs the nation

the future leaders of Zimbabwe.

”The Foundation will also focus on empowerment and development of rural women and youths through life skills development, healthy

lifestyles for rural communities through sports, cultural and recreational programs, and rural community development.

“So soon we start sporting activities where soccer and netball teams from Hwedza North constituency will compete with their counterparts

from Hwedza South constituency. There will be lots of big prizes for the winning teams. This is one effective platform to educate our children

on the deadly effects of drug abuse.”

He urged youths to report anyone who deals in prohibited drugs and substances to the police.

The event was attended by youths from Hwedza district, MP for Hwedza South Cde Tino Machakaire as well as MP for Mutoko South Cde

Isaac Tasikani.
