Managing director Mr Agrippa Mandiwona told New Ziana that the company was waiting for the response of the National Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Board (NIEEB) on the proposal which it submitted this year.
Reckitt Benckiser is a multi-national corporation registered on stock exchanges worldwide.
Mr Mandiwona refused to disclose contents of the indigenisation plan the company had submitted since it was still under scrutiny of the NIEEB.
“It would be premature to make a definite statement before the board makes a final decision on where we stand,” he said.
Some foreign companies are opting to list on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange to avoid complying with the indigenisation legislation.
Mr Mandiwona said his company was not planning to list on the local bourse. He hailed the cordial and close relationship that his company enjoyed with the Ministry of Youth Development, Indigenisation and
Empowerment, which he said had been very helpful.
“It has been a good engagement, where they correct us and help us where we need help,” he said.
Reckitt Benckiser Zimbabwe employs 67 permanent and around 150 contract workers.
Some of its products include the cleaning detergent Harpic, the bleaching liquid JIK and the Dettol range of healthcare and hygiene products. — New Ziana.
