FREEZIM Congress leader Mr Joseph Busha, one of the candidates who will contest next month’s presidential election, says he plans to use his background of working with underprivileged communities to develop the country.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail, Mr Busha said he is a “natural leader”.
“I believe I have the requisite skills to take this country forward,” he said.
“I have the experience because, to be a leader, you need to start by leading yourself out of poverty, then you lead your family, your clan, then your village and ultimately your nation.
“You don’t just jump in from nowhere and start leading a nation. You need to create processes and programmes that benefit the community. I have empowered many through my organisations and businesses.”
Mr Busha, who also contested the 2018 presidential polls, said his last run for the top job was meant to introduce himself as a national leader. He polled 17 540 votes, accounting for 0,37 percent of the total valid ballots.
“In 2018, I just introduced myself into the political arena as a national leader.
“I didn’t campaign that much, but this year, I think we are going to campaign a lot. We are going to make sure that people understand our policies so that we can be an alternative government.”
His party, he said, has fielded nine National Assembly aspirants and several local authority candidates.
“We believe we will be able to make a massive impact.
“I believe that among all the candidates cleared by the Nomination Court, I am the best qualified to lead Zimbabwe.”
He said his campaign message will focus on food security and beneficiation of the country’s natural resources.
“I think our domestic policy should be centred on unity, human rights and our own culture,” said Mr Busha.
“The second thing is how we benefit from our natural resources, particularly land, so that we can produce and feed our people; feed the whole continent.
“We need to develop beneficiation. We can benefit more from our natural resources, particularly minerals.
“We want to make sure that everything we take from the ground, we use it to make things and export them as finished products.”
