A FIREWOOD vendor in Gweru woke up on Wednesday morning to find his donkey’s hind legs nearly chopped off with a weapon believed to be a machete by an unknown assailant.Shepherd Sibanda used the donkey to ferry firewood from plots on the outskirts of Gweru for sale.
He said he was forced to sell the donkey for $50 to Antelope Park authorities who feed lions on donkey meat.
“I could not bear the pain my donkey was going through. I actually felt the donkey’s pain. I quickly visited Antelope Park and they paid me a paltry $50 before they shot and killed the donkey,” Sibanda said.
