‘I had many addictions!’ . . . ‘I had a very difficult time dealing with my problems’

JADA PINKETT SMITH has a successful marriage to Hollywood superstar Will Smith and two superstar children.
But in a surprise revelation the actress has revealed she battled “many addictions” during her youth.
The actress and singer posted a message on Facebook the day after she turned 42 reflecting on the lessons life has taught her.
“What I learned about myself is this, when I was younger I was not a good problem solver, meaning I had a very difficult time dealing with my problems in life,” Jada wrote.

“I had many addictions, of several kinds, to deal with my life issues, but today, at 42, I have my wisdom, my heart and my conscience as the only tools to overcome life’s inevitable obstacles.

Jada did not disclose what her addictions were, but said she has become a “good problem solver” and she’s “damn proud” about it.
“What I hope is that we all continue to gain healthy understanding that life is really about, solving problems, and also about us learning to become masters at solving them,” she said in the posting that had more than 65 000 Likes on Wednesday.

Jada’s medical drama Hawthorne was recently cancelled by TNT after three seasons, but the mother of 15-year-old son Jaden and 12-year-old daughter Willow has been keeping busy.

Her 45-year-old husband and children joined her at the concert and cheered her on.

Jada can be seen in next year’s Colombian drama “La escribana de uraba” and she’ll also reprise her role as Gloria the Hippo for The Penguins of Madagascar in 2015.

Jada and Will were married on New Year’s Eve in 1997 and the family lives in Malibu,  California.
