A HARARE woman took her husband to court claiming $400 000 in maintenance for their four children.

Hazel Mwaroza claimed that her husband, Ngoni Mwaroza, was neglecting his children.

During the court hearing, Hazel said:

“I want $400 000 for our four minor children. Three are going to school and one is not.

“His children need food, school fees, uniforms and medication.

“My husband goes to South Africa; he does art and also has a lawnmower hiring business.”

She added:

“He collects US$250 rentals per month from his late parents’ house.

“Your Worship, I want the court  to order my husband to give me money in US dollars,” said Hazel.

In response, Ngoni told the court that he is currently unemployed.

“I want to give her US$150 for all the children because I don’t work.

“She always transfers children to expensive private schools, but I am not a billionaire.

“She stole my money and opened a shop In Mverechena.”

He added:

“Your Worship, if the court may consider that I am taking care of my grandparents.

“I am surprised she is calling me here after she  gave me a divorce token last year.

“It’s better to transfer children from private to Government schools, at least I can afford,” said Ngoni.

Presiding magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini ordered Ngoni to pay US$150 in addition to school fees.

She also advised Hazel to transfer children to Government schools.
