Comedian Nomsa “MsDee” Muleya has narrated the horror of the accident which befell them on Sunday night as they were travelling home from the Munch & Sip event.
The young artist narrated how she almost got “munched” after munching and sipping food and drinks at the event which was held at the Matopos Sailing Club.
“We were on our way from Munch & Sip driving along the Matopos highway when we realised that steam was coming out from the engine. We stopped the car to pour water and cool it down. Patrick, who was driving and Fofo (Fortune Mguni from Mcimbi ka Fofo) got out of the car to check it out.
“GTI, two other guys, and I remained in the car and it wasn’t long before we heard a deafeningly loud sound and found ourselves lying on a clearing nearby. The air was smokey with dust and I thought the car would burn or something.
“After a while, other people started stopping to assist us. When I realised what had happened, I noticed that Josh was the one who seemed critical,” narrated MsDee.
She said the engine had burst and they were thrown out shortly after the guys had opened its bonnet to check it out.
Following the incident, she said two ladies, in particular, assisted them and kept the situation calm as they waited for the ambulance and police.
“A lot of people were helpful and stayed on until we were taken to UBH by the ambulance,” she said.
“We were taken for X-rays which confirmed that not much damage had been done. Josh was much more responsive when we got to UBH because he was the one who seemed worse. The driver is still at UBH complaining of back pains.”
Fortunately, MsDee said they managed to recover all their belongings.
“Most of our belongings were recovered. However, we’re still trying to remember most of what happened as it occurred so fast. I’m truly thankful to God and everyone who took their time to stop and assist. It could have been worse if we were on our own.
“Thanks to the UBH night staff for their diligence and the ambulance crew which was extra nice to us. Guess we almost got munched on our way from the Munch & Sip,” said MsDee.
