‘I will correct wrongs that happened last year’

FORMER Miss World Zimbabwe, Tendai Hunda is picking herself up after disappointing at the Miss World last year, and is determined to do well at this year’s 44th edition of the Miss Inter-Continental pageant set for Germany in December.

After an unsuccessful shot at the Miss World crown last year, Hunda said she was confident she would make the right impression this time around.

Last year, Hunda failed dismally after she turned up late to the boot camp — this time she is determined to be among the first contestants in the house.

“I am confident that I will make it this time at Miss Inter-Continental. Last time I went into camp five days late and most of the events were already done. What happened last year still haunts me, but I am sure I will excel as I prepare to go for camp,” she said.

The 25-year-old beauty queen, who recently attained a Bachelor of Science Honours in Politics and Administration at the University of Zimbabwe, said it was all up to her to shine for Zimbabwe.

“If there is any mistake that will happen, I will be held accountable for whatever wrong that will happen. With the hype and confidence that I have, I am sure I will make it to the top this time,” said the beauty queen.

For Hunda, Miss Inter-continental is more than a competition; it is a platform that will aid her dream of helping young vulnerable girls in Zimbabwe.

“I believe the competition is more than a beauty pageant,” she said.

The first Miss Inter-continental pageant took place in 1971 in Aruba and was used as a tool to attract more tourists to the island.

Today, the pageant is an international, annual spectacle.
