This year’s Ibumba International Festival is scheduled to start on December 16 to 22 in Bulawayo. The now expanded festival will spread its wings to two new township venues and run under the theme. “No Limits”.

The festival will follow on the heels of the sixth edition of “The African Union Sports Council Region 5 Youth Games” also to be held in Bulawayo.

“Ibumba will aim to be the largest event in the greater Bulawayo community in December.

“In the midst of so many offerings, the festival sets out to be distinctive by creating a programme that appeals to all.

“New theatre productions will be seen, new musicians will be born. Our comedy programme will be fresh, with your usual suspects and a few new surprises.

“In all, we will present more than 50 shows in six temporary spaces and the main site is Stanley Square in Makokoba, ” said Saimon Phiri, Siyaya Arts and Sabela Music Projects producer and director.

He said there were limited opportunities available for organisations or artists who were keen on partnering them.

Ibumba International Festival is organised by Siyaya Arts that also run other projects such as Zambezi Express, the popular musical.
