A local man who won the International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA) grand prize of a Kia Picanto car last year, finally got the vehicle on Friday at Rainbow Towers Hotel.

The winner of the ICASA car draw, Moses Chananuka (50), is the Network for People Living with HIV in Zimbabwe provincial coordinator for Midlands Province.

He said he was very happy to have won the grand prize after having purchased the draw ticket for only five dollars.

“I am really pleased to be the winner of ICASA car draw. I only bought the ticket to support the ICASA and did not intend to win,” he said.

The 18th edition of ICASA was held in Harare from November 29 to December 4, 2015.

It was organised by the Ministry of Health and Child Care and the Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA).

Mr Chananuka said he did not grow impatient waiting for the car from December last year.

“It was a surprise that I won the car, I did not see it coming so I never saw the months passing,” he said.

Minister of Health and Child Care Dr David Parirenyatwa, speaking at the handover ceremony of the car, applauded Mr Chananuka for waiting for the car for half a year without making any demands to the ministry.
