ICAZ to host tax conference

conference, to be held on June 28 at Rainbow Towers, will focus on taxpayers’ rights to tax privacy, customs valuation of goods and international commercial terms.
Focus would also be on practical challenges on Value Added Tax (VAT) with particular reference to fiscalisation, voluntary compliance, the tax practitioner’s perspective and investing in revenue compliance for sustainable growth. More than 100 delegates that include accountants, finance managers or directors and practising tax practitioners are expected to attend the conference.

ICAZ tax manager Mr Dumisani Ngwenya said the conference was important in a number of ways.
“This conference will help individuals and organisations to be aware of their right to tax privacy.

“In addition, some individuals are still facing challenges with the administration of VAT and this is the precise platform for them to acquire insight on VAT,” he said.
The tax conference is aimed at exploring voluntary compliance and the valuation of goods for customs duty.

Notable attendees will include Zimra regional manager Charles Jaure, Dube Manikai and Hwacha Legal Practitioners’ senior partner Canaan Dube and Ernst & Young tax partner Maxwell Mangoro.
In addition, Tax Management Services managing director Tendai Mavima and Federation of Clearing and Forwarding Associations of Southern Africa president Joseph Musariri will also attend the conference.

ICAZ is a full member of International Federation of Accountants and Eastern Central and Southern African Federation of Accountants.

The association, which represents professional accountants, is interested in boosting the studying of international qualification and recognition of chartered accountants in the country for the benefit of its members.
The institute also seeks to be the pre-eminent professional body in the development and promotion of accountancy, assurance and advisory services, business and good governance practices through its vision.
