Acting President Dr Constantino Chiwenga has officially received the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup trophy ahead of the tournament, scheduled to take place from January 15 to February 6.
This highly anticipated tournament will see Zimbabwe co-hosting alongside Namibia.

The U19 World Cup serves as an exciting precursor to the senior men’s Cricket World Cup, set for 2027 in both countries as well as South Africa, showcasing the potential future stars of the game.

During today’s ceremony, team captains from participating nations, including Zimbabwe’s Simbarashe Mudzengerere, along with their counterparts from New Zealand, led by captain Tom Jones, and England skipper Farhan Ahmed, joined ICC and Zimbabwe Cricket officials to present the trophy to the Acting President.

Acting President Chiwenga took the opportunity to encourage the young Chevrons to channel their passion and talent into the tournament.
“We expect nothing less than your best, and we believe you have the potential to keep this trophy here at home,” said the Acting President.

The tournament is set to bring together talented teams from around the globe to compete in the U19 Cricket World Cup, which promises to be an unforgettable showcase of emerging talent and cricketing prowess.
