VICTORIA Falls has the potential to grow into a big city leveraging on Information Communication Technology (ICT) and digital growth.

This was said by the town’s Mayor, Councillor Somvelo Dlamini, last week when he officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony for construction of an ICT hub at the council run Mosi-oa-Tunya High School in the resort town. The solar-powered ICT hub was donated by Love for Africa in partnership with First Lady’s Angel of Hope Foundation, Africa Albida Tourism group and other partners and is expected to cost between US$320 000 US$400 000.

It becomes the fourth state-of-art ICT hub to be built by Love for Africa in Southern Africa and also the fourth by the same company in Zimbabwe. Last year, Love for Africa donated an innovation hub at Victoria Falls Primary School. Cllr Dlamini who was guest of honour said the facility was a milestone development in the town’s growth and education of the community.

“This donation will trigger technological advancement of the community by aiding research in various academic disciplines. To Love for Africa and partners, your towering act of altruism will certainly contribute to the improvement of educational standards in our community.

“I am confident the computer hub will buttress the institution’s vision towards academic excellence in the region and the country at large.

This computer hub is a welcome addition to the town because the world is becoming digital and relevant people are those that will embrace the digital trends. It will in no doubt stir Victoria Falls into a destination of choice both for tourism and business,” said Cllr Dlamini.
