IF YOU CAN’T BEAT THEM, ‘JOIN’ THEM

HARRY Marriot, the son of Dynamos owner Bernard, has always been a controversial figure.

He has had his fair share of fallouts with various coaches and other members of the coaching staff at the Glamour Boys.

His name featured prominently in the bitter post-mortem which followed the Glamour Boys’ painful exit from the CAF Confederation Cup last year in Botswana amid claims of gross indiscipline.

Now, after a short and controversial stint as team manager last year before sanity prevailed and he was replaced by Ronald Sibanda, Harry is still hogging the limelight – again for the wrong reasons.

His role at DeMbare is a shadowy one with some saying he is the kit manager while others say he is the players’ welfare manager.

However, a photo which has emerged, showing Harry wearing a Scottland helmet and proudly displaying a Scottland cap, against a background of Scottland merchandise being sold in a shop, has created a lot of controversy.

Some DeMbare fans can’t understand how the son of their club’s owner finds it fashionable to wear and proudly display merchandise belonging to a club which is challenging the Glamour Boys.

“Does this mean that he is telling us that the way to go is to join Scottland?,” a DeMbare fan told H-Metro.

“If that is the case then it explains why we deserve to be where we are.

“It’s something that I just can’t understand.”

The irony of it is that Harry doesn’t seem to see that this single photo tells a thousand words of what DeMbare are lacking and what the newboys are doing right.

“You would expect that we are the ones who should have such a shop and selling such products associated with our team,” said another fan.

“You can tell that Harry is proud of what he has seen but what he doesn’t understand is that we also want to be proud of all this belonging to Dynamos.”

Even on the social media platforms, including some which are dedicated to DeMbare, the Harry photo was trending yesterday.

And, the reaction of the Dynamos fans was the same.

“You can imagine a Chelsea official posing in Liverpool regalia,” said Byron Maswela.

Tee Nashe said, “angagarira tsikidzi dzababa vake here,” while Douglas Maunzangenyi said “kozoti iniwo zvangu tsuro ndorambidzwa kutiza kuemdawo kurikufadza vanhu.”
