Nguru, who is now leading the amateur Order of Merit after the departure of Scott Vincent for the United States, is looking for his touch.
“The tournaments are interesting in that we are facing competition from all provinces,” he said yesterday.
“I think I will play well this time around and I am better prepared both physically and mentally.
“There is a lot to look forward to going into this game as the competition is very high.”
Nguru was second to Vincent after the graduation of Roger Jack and Nyasha Muyambo into the professional ranks.

This year the competition is expected to be played over 76 holes, stretching from today right into Sunday.
Ray Badenhoist, who came third last year, could make a big impression.
Amateur tournaments have become so unpredictable with the last three tournaments being won by different players.
Vincent won the Manicaland Amateur before Zvishavane’s Mike Madhoda won the Chapman Grandslam with Chris Manning of Marondera taking the Harare Amateur.
This morning the big battle will also feature Bret Krog, Kembo Kampira, Kyle Basson, Nicholas Masunga, Bernard Magaso and James Kalimazeni.
