Illegal oil dealers demand reprieve

In a statement, spokesperson Mr White Tamana said government should grant them a reprieve similar to the amnesty extended to members of the Boko Haram sect.

The group is also calling for the immediate release of its members arrested recently by the Joint Task Force.
They warned that their activities will continue if the Federal government refuses to accede to their demands.

The JTF recently impounded a vessel allegedly laden with some 2 500 tonnes of stolen crude at Okuboto creek in Bayelsa.
In another operation JTF agents intercepted 30 boats carrying illegally refined petroleum products between Aruton and Ugborodo.

Also in Kogi State, seven people were recently arrested by the JTF in connection with an illegal refinery discovered in Emomo village in Okene Local Government Area of the state. — CAJ News.
