A Gokwe school teacher has been fined $160 for illegally operating a private college.
Norman Musiringi (46) of 2958 Mapfungauitsi in Gokwe and who is also employed as a teacher at Cheziya High School, turned his house into a private college and enrolled 20 students.
He would conduct lessons at night with school drop-outs and those retaking their ordinary level subjects.
Musiringi was on Monday convicted of contravening sections of the Education Act which prohibit operating an unregistered college by Gokwe magistrate Mr Christopher Maturure and fined $160 or four months imprisonment.
He was given up to September 30, 2017 to pay the fine.
The agreed facts are that on September 1, 2017, police were on patrol at night in Mapfungautsi high density suburb in Gokwe when they raided the house and found him with six students and asked him to produce an operating licence but he could not and was subsequently arrested.
