South Africa-based Nigerian jazz star Kunle Ayo seems to want more of Zimbabwe, the country he described as the best place to be because of its beautiful people and immense hospitality it renders to foreigners.
The visiting celebrated guitarist who was part of the performing foreign artists at the Harare Jazz Festival said Zimbabwe is pleasant country. “I am glad to be back in Zimbabwe, the best place to be. We got in this afternoon (Saturday) and the service rendered to us was very pleasant.
“I loved everything that I saw, it was great,” he said. Ayo still looked back with nostalgia since the last time that he was here and to him it feels like home.
“The reception is still great just like the first time I came here. I am always excited to come back to Harare because of the warmth of the people, they are gracious and good.
“People of this country have genuine love that one can actually see in their eyes when they greet you. I also see many people warming up to our music.”
Ayo said he was very thankful to the people of this country for their undying love and those keeping the jazz genre alive.
“I really appreciate all those who are still keeping jazz alive in this country and even in Africa. I also commend the team behind the Harare Jazz Festival in this country for making sure that it remains a force to reckon with in the continent,” he said.
He said African music is alive and from the jazz perspective, especially the Harare Jazz Festival that organisers holds each year, gives foreigners the chance to showcase their dexterity.
Ayo said he will continue coming to Zimbabwe for the festivals to rekindle his love with his legion of supporters.
