NEWLY elected Zanu-PF Member of Parliament for Umguza in Matabeleland North, Cde Richard Moyo has promised to ensure that the area becomes the country’s largest productive agricultural zone.
In an interview, Cde Moyo said he was indebted to the people of Umguza who voted him to represent them in Parliament in the next five years.
“I am so indebted to the people who have put all their trust in me to lead them. They came out in their numbers to vote for the one who will sincerely serve them. The day, 30 July was remarkable for me, I had more than 9 000 votes than my closest rival,” said Cde Moyo who polled more than 15 000 votes.
Cde Moyo said he will work towards turning the constituency into one of the country’s largest productive agricultural zones by implementing a five-year developmental plan for the area.
“I will not disappoint my people, uBaba uMnangagwa (President) recently gave Matabeleland North people agricultural inputs ahead of this year’s farming season, this was just a start of walking the talk, I will make sure the constituency is turned into the country’s largest agricultural zone.”
Cde Moyo said he will also adopt an inclusive approach to development.
“I want to make sure in five years all districts within the constituency are served, some need boreholes, and there are some areas with poor roads networks, schools, clinics and bridges,” he added.
Cde Moyo said his work is also going to be easier as he is succeeding Dr Obert Mpofu who has also been working hard to develop the area. He said Dr Mpofu has been showing him how to be a good leader practically and he has been at the forefront of development projects in the province.
