I’M JUST AS GOOD AS AMERICAN STARS, SAYS BURNA BOY

LAGOS. – Afrobeats sensation Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy, expressed his frustration over the persistent skepticism from many Nigerians regarding his global musical prominence when compared to American artists.

The artist, renowned for his distinctive sound and impactful tracks, lamented the prevailing tendency among his compatriots to undervalue his accomplishments, often placing him beneath emerging American rappers.

Burna Boy acknowledged that he has encountered consistent disregard within his home country due to his unconventional musical style, asserting that his sound has led many Nigerians to doubt the possibility of an artist like him rising above American counterparts.

In response to these doubters, Burna Boy has announced that his upcoming album, aptly titled “I Told Them…, serves as a direct response to the critics and detractors who have attempted to undermine his achievements throughout various stages of his career.

Addressing the issue, Burna Boy expressed.

“To this day, there’s many Nigerians who can tell you an American rapper who just started their career, and they’ll say they’re bigger than Burna Boy. They don’t understand it. They’ll say, ‘There’s no way someone who talks like me can even be on the same level as an American artist.’”

Burna Boy is also facing the heat from critics as a video of him leisurely driving his Rolls Royce through the bustling streets of Lagos caught significant online attention.
