NEW Black Leopards coach, Rodwell Dhlakama, has dismissed reports that he is interested in signing Ngezi Platinum Stars’ Denver Mukamba.
Mukamba’s future at the Mhondoro-based side appears to be hanging in the balance.
He has not played any part in the club’s last six assignments.
Reports have been linking the 2012 Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year to the Limpopo side since Dhlakama’s appointment.
Dhlakama was hailed for coming to Mukamba’s rescue last season when he convinced the enterprising midfielder to join Chapungu.
The duo then reunited at Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Dhlakama was on record stating he has a father-and-son relationship with Mukamba.
Even when Dhlakama joined ZPC Kariba, people tipped Mukamba to reunite with the coach.
Dhlakama said signing Mukamba is not key at the moment.
“I believed in Denver when everybody had written him off.
“The boy is talented but, at the moment, I think he has to prove his worth at Ngezi Platinum before he leaves,” said Dhlakama.
“That’s the best way out for him.
“I’m not aware of his situation at the moment. He is the one who knows what’s best for his career.” Ngezi Platinum Stars’ interim coach, Takesure Chiragwi, has insisted there’s no bad blood between him and the player.
“Denver is just like any other player at the club.
“He needs to fight for his place if he really wants to play, in the same way other boys have been doing,” said Chiragwi.
“He remains one of the key players without a doubt.”
Dhlakama revealed his intentions of roping in Zimbabwean players to his Motsepe Foundation Championship side.
He joined the club two weeks ago and is still waiting for his work permit.
