Implement realistic strategic plans, Premiership clubs challenged

secretaries during opening session of the three-day strategic plan­ning workshop in Harare yesterday.
The former Sports Commission board chairman said the strategic plans which the football leadership come up with should be easy to under­stand and implement.

Mutambara noted with concern that administrators at various organi­sations were at times found wanting  in the implementation of the blue prints, which they would have         drafted at strategic planning workshops similar to the one being held by the PSL.
The veteran administrator also said he was happy with the level of response by the participants during the opening day of workshop and felt the club administrators were involved in the subjects and were communicat­ing effectively.

“The topics we are covering include foundation issues, focus on environ­ment analysis and defining strategic goals and supporting actions,” Mutambara said.
Premier Soccer League chief execu­tive Kenny Ndebele said the whole idea is to share the vision as a league, working together and try to move from the present scenario to wealth creation.

Ndebele believes it’s important for clubs to gather and share the same vision on how they feel the manage­ment committee should run the league’s affairs.
“At the end of the three-day strategic planning workshop we hope to have unity of purpose among clubs and what is agreed must cascade down to teams. I want to applaud the clubs’ representatives for their participation,” said Ndebele.

Dynamos chairman Kenny Mubaiwa hailed the Premier Soccer League management committee for organising such an event before the start of the season.
Mubaiwa said such workshops helped to give an insight to clubs on what is at stake and for the manage­ment to get views on clubs’ expecta­tions.
The Dynamos boss said the work­shop was also a show of the efforts being made by the PSL management committee to run the game profes­sionally.

“As Dynamos we value the strategic planning workshop as it helps us run our club professionally and also it helps us on how to market our club brand as we venture into the Champi­ons League,” Mubaiwa said.

Zifa, Sports and Recreation Com­mission were not represented at the opening day of the workshop and PSL chief executive Ndebele indicated that they sent apologies and would attend today’s session because they valued the workshop.
The Premier Soccer League man­agement was represented by chair-man Twine Phiri, Cuthbert Chitima, Eric Rosen, Tavengwa Hara and Ndebele.
