“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13. Boldness is the only thing left that you need to succeed. You need to be bold, courageous and confident. When we look at God, who created you, He is not one to be intimidated. He is a powerful God and a confident one.
Many times in the word of God when God talks about Himself He calls Himself strong, mighty and a warrior. He is a fighter and a deliverer.
He is a God who knows who He is and when such a God creates you in His own image and likeness, you must also have the same boldness and power that He has. You have the creative power of God.
Imagine if you were bold enough, the things you could have achieved? Had you not considered what people said about you; had you not listened either to your teacher, who criticised you, or people, who said you will amount to nothing; can you imagine things you could have achieved by now?
When you find yourself in the presence of God and you know what to do, change is inevitable.
You need to understand that the God we serve did not call us to play games.
If you want to be a child of God, who will do exploits and transform cities and communities, boldness is one of the ingredients required. You should be willing to confront that one major demon in your family that has caused every person there to be who he is.
You should be willing to be the first person to bring down that demon from the atmosphere.
The devil does not want you to exercise boldness, but you have to be bold.
The bible says that “Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.” (Psalms 119:98). It is very amazing to know that through His word, God has made you wiser than every person fighting you.
You are a child of God and you have to know that what you carry is God. It is knowing what you have that gives you boldness.
In the theme scripture we read, Peter and John were going to the temple at the ninth hour.
They then met a lame man who was carried every day and placed at the Beautiful Gate to beg for money. When Peter and John met him, they were not coming to heal the sick, but to commune with God.
It was not their intention to heal anybody on that particular day. When they saw him, they knew exactly what they had, the power of God forever present with them. They reached out to him, touched him and he was healed right there.
The man was able to walk for the first time after forty years. The man was over forty years, which means he had been sick way before Jesus was born. Jesus came and healed every other person, but He never prayed for this man.
On many occasions Jesus would go to the temple and do all sorts of miracles, but He never laid His hands on this man. The lame man lived during the time of Jesus and he never got his miracle.
When Jesus was moving around doing miracles He was very careful to leave out certain cases so that His disciples will later deal with them.
Jesus did not finish all problems and cure all diseases because He knew that there are people coming after Him who will deal with those cases.
Do you know that what makes any disease to stay in your system is the boldness of that sickness? The man that Jesus never prayed for, Peter came and prayed for him.
The lame man, though for the wrong reasons, kept on coming to church because that is where the miracle was.
It just takes one day for you to encounter your miracle. Sometimes you do not get a miracle every day, it just takes one day. After the man was healed, he did not run back home but he entered into the temple. That is the secret; each time God blesses you with something, whether it is a new car you have to run into the house of God and testify.
After the miracle took place, the Pharisees, Sadducees and the high priests were very angry to the extent that they arrested Peter and John for the miracle they had performed. Peter explained to them the healing power in the name of Jesus and when they looked at him and saw his boldness, they marvelled.
They were surprised with where their boldness was coming from because Peter and John were not learned. They later learned their boldness was coming from the fact that they had been with Jesus.
Even with Jesus, at some moments they marvelled at His boldness and knowledge. “And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?” (John 7:15).
Jesus used to say statements that shocked them and they could not know what to say to Him. They could not even answer some of the questions He asked them. What surprised them was that Jesus had never been to any of their schools and yet He could speak things difficult for them to comprehend.
The Pharisees had a wrong philosophy because they thought it was only education which gives one boldness and confidence. The same way they wondered at the boldness of Jesus is the same way they wondered at Peter and John.
This story teaches us something important about having Jesus in your life. Having Jesus can replace certain things you were never privileged to. The book of Proverbs tells us that “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.” (Proverbs 28:1). According to this scripture; when you find yourself running away from nothing, you are a wicked man. The passage of this scripture goes on to say that the righteous is as bold as a lion.
You do not see a righteous man by the way he prays or the car he drives but by his level of boldness. You measure a man’s righteousness by the amount of boldness that he carries.
