THE Bulawayo Athletics Board (Bab) has been left impressed after they recorded an impressive turn out at their first track and field event of the year.

White City Stadium

Over 200 athletes drawn from different clubs and schools in the city converged at White City Stadium for the meet that gets the 2023 season off the mark.
Bab chairperson Watson Madenyika said the season had got off to a good start.

“The numbers we got are impressive. This being the first event of this nature this year, we got an idea of where our athletes stand coming from pre-season. The athletes seem to be in good shape and we are looking forward to a successful season,” said Madenyika.

He said they will be announcing dates for some coaching courses that will start towards the end of the month.
Daniel Ngavi came first in the senior men 100m with a time of 11.14 seconds.
He was followed by Tashinga Bvukura in second place and Methembe Mhlanga in third. Bvukura had a time of 11.23 seconds with Mhlanga managing to cross the finish line in 11.37 seconds.
