TWO knife wielding Nyanga robbers allegedly pounced on a woman and robbed her of US$5 and a cellphone.
Kennedy Muteyo (19) of Sanyabako Village appeared in court over the offence, while his accomplice was on the run.
Muteyo was not represented when he appeared before Nyanga magistrate, Ms Notebulgar Muchineripi.
However, the charges were later withdrawn due to lack of evidence.
Public prosecutor, Mr Tapiwa Mashanda, told the court that Muteyo and his unnamed accomplice attacked Ms Martha Mabvuwo in broad daylight.
“On July 9, Muteyo and his colleague who is still at large hatched a plan to rob the complainant. On the same day, during the afternoon, the two accomplices proceeded to Ms Mabvuwo’s homestead where they found her inside the house. Muteyo who was armed with a knife entered into Ms Mabvuwo’s room through an unlocked door. He locked it from inside while his colleague remained outside guarding.
“Muteyo grabbed Ms Mabvuwo and pointed the knife on her neck. He threatened to kill her. Muteyo demanded cash and phones from the complainant. Muteyo grabbed Ms Mabvuwo’s phone and a US$5 note which was on the table. After the robbery, the accused people bolted away from the scene,” said Mr Mashanda.
The accused person was positively identified by Ms Mabvuwo as the one who robbed her.
Nothing was recovered.
