Ferguson’s bombshell end-of-season retirement, bringing the curtain down on his 26-year reign, will leave a gaping whole at the Premier League champions.
But Ferdinand believes the Red Devils are ready to begin a new chapter of sustained success under Old Trafford successor Moyes.
He said: “I think David Moyes will freshen up Man Utd squad.
“Hopefully he will bring more out of the players.
“He’s a football man, very passionate and just the right ingredient we needed at the club when Sir Alex Ferguson left.’”
While pre-season is the time for feet-up as the footballers hit the sun loungers around the globe, Ferdinand was in no mood to rest up his creaking body.
Ferdinand, who called time on his England career to prolong his career, had forgotten his long-standing back problems by making the long-haul flight to Asia.
The 34-year-old defender, alongside the likes of Ian Wright, Dennis Irwin, Robbie Fowler and his cousin Les Ferdinand, were on hand to offer advice and guidance during a football clinic with students in Singapore.
