Organisers of the African Excellence Hall of Fame have launched a continental initiative aimed at recognising Africans making significant contributions across various sectors, with the inaugural awards ceremony set to be held at the Rainbow Towers in Harare on 18 July.
The initiative seeks to celebrate individuals driving innovation, social transformation and excellence in fields ranging from science and technology to the arts and community development, while creating a platform to amplify African success stories beyond national borders.
In a statement, the organisers said the platform was intended to “celebrate Africa’s finest, showcasing heroes who drive positive change, embody African genius, and build a united continent”.
They added that nominations were now open to organisations and individuals across the continent, with the public expected to vote for shortlisted candidates.
The organisers said the programme would also feature the “Greatest of All Time Awards”, aimed at honouring legendary African figures whose impact has shaped the continent and inspired future generations.
According to the organisers, the awards initiative will be supported by a dedicated YouTube channel designed to showcase the stories, achievements and influence of Africans excelling on the global stage.
The African Excellence Hall of Fame said it was inviting Africans from across the continent and the diaspora to nominate individuals who have made notable contributions in their respective fields.
The awards ceremony is expected to attract dignitaries and stakeholders from across Africa.
