Addressing thousands of Zanu-PF supporters at Muzarabani Business Centre yesterday, VP Mujuru said the party did not want another coalition with political parties that did not have the people at heart.
She said Finance Minister and MDC-T secretary general Tendai Biti had brought “darkness” to the new farmers by failing to avail funding to them.
“He (Biti) has blocked a number of projects that were meant to benefit the masses during the four-year tenure of the inclusive Government,” said VP Mujuru.
“Among these were two projects that were meant for Arda Muzarabani. The Arda we are seeing today has collapsed and what was only needed to resuscitate it was Biti’s signature after we made efforts to secure help, but up to now the papers are still in his office.”
VP Mujuru is on a campaign trail in Mashonaland Central province and yesterday she took her programme to Muzarabani, Centenary and Mvurwi.
She said the inclusive Government had no sound and sustainable policies towards the agriculture sector.
As a result, she said, many farmers were being forced into contract farming, which disadvantaged them.
“Because of lack of Government support, you are given inputs but after the season you are left with nothing,” said VP Mujuru.
“Most of you here are cotton farmers and you lost a lot of household goods and cattle as a result of this type of farming. The best time to vote out puppets is now such that a Zanu-PF Government, that started the land reform, supports you to the maximum.”
VP Mujuru said problems faced by farmers were compounded by the illegal economic sanctions imposed on the country at the behest of the MDC-T.
“It is now close to 15 years since they imposed those sanctions and this has brought untold suffering to the masses,” she said.
“We have, however, remained resolute and steadfast and we now want to complete our struggle with a resounding victory in two weeks-time.”
VP Mujuru said unity would propel Zanu-PF to victory in the elections, adding that candidates who lost in the party’s primary elections should not lose hope, but drum up support for President Mugabe and the winners.
“There are no losers in Zanu-PF,” she said. “We want people to maintain a similar voting pattern during the elections whereby you vote for all the candidates we would have fielded.
“I am happy that in all the places I have gone people are working together despite differences and that is what will make us win the polls.”
The Zanu-PF manifesto, VP Mujuru said, was full of empowering programmes and people should thank President Mugabe by voting for him.
“The only thank you he (President) needs is my vote and your vote,” she said. “Since the liberation struggle, he has fought for the empowerment of the people and we should be appreciative of his (good) heart.”
Addressing another rally in Centenary, VP Mujuru said corruption had no place in Zanu-PF.
She reminded the party’s candidates to remember the electorate when voted into power.
“Some of you forget the people who matter just after being elected and we do not want such acts,” she said.
“Vamwewo ndovanoti chikafu chaanzi anopa nherera neshirikadzi uyo nacho kumba kwake nehama dzake. Corruption is unacceptable. We are all under sanctions and we should share what we have equitably. Don’t look at class or faces because we are all Zimbabweans.”
VP Mujuru said Centenary had historical significance and people should never allow the MDC-T to dominate the area.
“This is where the first shots of the struggle were fired,” she said. “Faced with such history, it means it is our area which we should never allow the enemy to control. I am happy that following your complaints on the imposition of candidates at the last conference in Gweru, the President has allowed you to choose candidates of your choice and nothing will stop you from voting for them and continue being in charge of this area.”
At the rally in Mvurwi, VP Mujuru urged the electorate to vote out MDC-T councillors who failed to offer service delivery to the people.
