India tighten screws

PALLEKELE. — Sri Lanka were 19 for one in their follow-on innings at stumps, after being bowled out for a paltry 135 in reply to India’s 487 on day two of the final Test cricket in Pallekele yesterday, on overall deficit of 333.

At the crease is Dimuth Karunaratne on 12 and nightwatchman, Malinda Pushpakumara has yet to score. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav finished with 4-40 as the hosts were bundled out in 37.4 overs – their shortest-ever innings against India.

Skipper Dinesh Chandimal top-scored with 48. Before tea, fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya blew away Sri Lanka’s top-order to leave the hosts tottering at 61-4 at the break..
