Indigenisation only way to empower locals: Chombo

Politburo member has said.
Addressing party supporters in Mutorashanga yesterday, Zanu-PF secretary for lands and rural resettlement, Cde Ignatius Chombo, urged them to embrace the programme to take full control of the country’s resources.
Cde Chombo told the supporters to gear for elections, saying the inclusive Government had brought “more harm than good” to the nation.

“The programme seeks to address the economic imbalances that prevailed before,” he said.
“I see no reason why you should not join in this empowering initiative.
“As a party, let’s fully rally behind the programme as it is set to make us drivers of our economy.

“We have a lot of mines in this country and in most cases we have been mine labourers whilst whites and other foreigners were benefiting, but now its time for us to take over.
“President Mugabe and the people have given us the green light to lawfully control our resources.”
Cde Chombo, who is also the Zvimba North House of Assembly member, challenged party supporters to campaign vigorously ahead of elections next year to retain the seats lost to the MDC factions.

“In Mashonaland West, we have 22 constituencies and we lost six seats and this time around we are saying no to giving away seats,” he said
“You have seen that those whom you voted for in those constituencies have brought you nothing and its high time you make an introspection and vote for a party with history, which is Zanu-PF.”
Cde Chombo urged party supporters to register as voters for them to be eligible to vote.

“This inclusive Government has let down most people and we are now ready to defeat the MDC-T in the next elections so that we embark on our empowerment programmes without hindrance,” he said.
Cde Chombo explained to the supporters the progress made in the constitution-making process.

He then donated foodstuffs and clothes to the supporters and the elderly before handing over furniture and stationery sourced with money from the Constitutional Development Fund.
Mashonaland West Government Cde Faber Chidarikire attended the meeting.
