Suspected drug peddlers nabbed at Harare International Airport

Memory Mapurisa (35) and Malawian Tsautso Kamwendo (32) were arrested following a tip off. The 19,2kg of ephidrine was hidden in the suspects’ suitcases. Police spokesperson Superintendent Andrew Phiri yesterday said the two were still assisting with investigations. They will appear in court soon for contravening the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act Chapter 15:03.

“The drugs were hidden in suspects’ suitcases and each had two sachets. Detectives from the CID Drugs Section were called and they confirmed that the drug is used to manufacture illicit drugs such as cocaine, heroine and mandrax.”
Supt Phiri said the two were implicating a Nigerian national and some locals.
