AN InDrive driver lost his car, and other valuables, to his passenger in Chitungwiza.

Gerald Chitonho, 26, was driving a silver Honda Fit at Chikwanha Shopping Centre when he picked up a passenger.

The man said he was going to Makoni Shopping Centre.

When they reached Unit B, the passenger requested that the driver turn into the residential area.

The passenger then ordered Chitonho to stop along an unnamed road.

He asked him to get out of the car and knock at a nearby gate, claiming his girlfriend lived there.

Chitonho stopped, disembarked, and walked to the gate while leaving the engine running.

Moments later, the passenger occupied the driver’s seat and drove away, leaving Chitonho stranded.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating a theft of a motor vehicle in Chitungwiza.

“In the motor vehicle was the complainant’s wallet, containing a driver’s licence and national registration card, and the total value stolen is US$8,000,” said Insp Chakanza.
